JOB OFFER WATCHMAKING INSTRUCTOR

Main missions of the position

 

Contribute to ensuring that participants in WOSTEP programs and courses throughout the world achieve the required skills and competencies. This objective will be fulfilled under the following functions :

 

  • Teaching courses and modules on campus at WOSTEP Neuchâtel according to need

     

  • Actively participating in the formulation and development of training projects, course material and technical documents 

 

  • Supporting the WOSTEP Worldwide Partnership school network on site

 

 

Main duties and responsibilities of the position

 

  • Training and Education                                                                                                    (50%)
    • Teach short-term courses (3-10 weeks) and/or longer program modules (12-20 weeks) as required
    • Support in course preparation, verification of existing equipment, organisation of tools, components, course material and documents
    • Support and participate in course delivery

 

  • Participating in the management of technical documents and course material               (20%)
    • Identify and anticipate training needs
    • Ensure quality and availability of course material
    • Support the development of new course material according to need
    • Create technical documents

 

  • Supporting the micromechanics training environment                                                    (15%)
  • Be keen to build up or help to consolidate a solid micromechanics offer
  • Experience in precision machining and basic mechanical tasks
  • Knowledge of metrology and precision measurements
  • Knowledge of materials and alloys used in watchmaking
  • Any experience in, or willingness to develop the following, will be a plus:
    • Technical drawings and CAD design tools
    • High-end watch finishing and decoration

 

  • Supporting WOSTEP Neuchâtel (CH) and Worldwide Partnership schools – examinations, courses and compliance of working environment to WOSTEP standards                                               (15%)
    • Provide advisory support for Partnership Schools
    • Travel, 10-day trips, to Partnership school locations, 2 to 4 times a year
    • Prepare, invigilate and assess examinations
    • Generate results and final reports

 

 

Required profile

 

  • Swiss CFC “Watchmaker” or equivalent qualification, with operational experience in micromechanics.
  • 5 or more years of recent experience as a bench watchmaker
  • Swiss or EU/EFTA national, or Swiss resident permit - cat. C
  • Business-level English (min. IELTS level 5.5-6.5 or CEFR level B2/C1)
  • Beginner-level French (min. IELTS 3-4 or CEFR A2)
  • German – an asset

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences (learners, trainers, business partners)
  • Teaching / training / coaching experience, in watchmaking and/or other areas
  • Knowledge of pedagogical/andragogical principles, methods and tools is a plus

 

  • Experience in Office Suite, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
